Laser engraving utilizes a powerful laser beam to remove the surface layer of a material like paper or wood to achieve depth and tonal variances. Laser cutting allows for intricately cut shapes that can't be produced using other traditional methods. It is a time-consuming process but can create very interesting results.

MATERIAL TYPES AND ENGRAVING DEPTHS:

Depending on the material the typical engraving depth is maxed out at 1/8 inch and the die cut thickness is maxed out at 1/4 inch. Types of materials we can engrave on include wood, paper and acrylic.

MAX DIMENSIONS AND ROTARY DIMENSIONS

We can engrave pieces up to 18" x 12" inches in size and 4" deep.

UNPREDICTABLE OUTCOMES - TEST FEES REQUIRED

Much of the work we do on the laser and the materials we use are unique and unpredictable. There is no way we could have tested every paper and material that comes through the door. One black paper may engrave black and another may engrave grey or green. There is no way to know without testing. So if you want to know what a specific material will do then we can certainly test it for you at a fee beginning at $75.

LASER BURNING

Laser engraving is the process of burning the material to remove layers. The deeper and darker an engraving the more residue burn there will be around the edges or sides of the material. If this is not a look you like, sometimes items can be masked off but it is a significantly higher price to do this type of work, about doubling overall cost, if not more.

ISSUES WITH LASER CUTTING - REVERSED OUT TYPE

If laser cutting out letters keep in mind reversed out type. For example, you will loose the center of an A or O when die cutting out those letters, among others, unless you put connecting points between them. The connecting point thickness will depend on the material and size we are cutting.
